建筑材料——玻璃的应用Building Materials – Use of Glass

玻璃作为一种建筑材料,已经广泛应用到不同类型的室内设计及建筑设计中。与早期不同,现在的玻璃类型种类繁多,功能也不再仅是满足采光需要,还具有调节光线、保温隔热、防弹防火及艺术装饰等特性。搭配不同的强度、色彩、图案及曲面,设计师通过玻璃的组合打造出更加灵活有趣的空间。它已成为继混凝土和钢材之后的第三大建筑材料。
Glass, as a building material, has been extensively used in architectural as well as interior design for various types of buildings. Comparing earlier times, new variety of glass has been developed and are being used in a number of creative ways. Other than providing natural light, they are an excellent materials for day light control, thermal insulation,  bullet proof & fire resistant, decoration, etc.  With combination of different strength, color, prints and curves, glass enables designers to creater more interesting spaces. Glass has become the third most widely used building material after concrete and steel.

John Ellway在建筑、图形设计、产品设计、媒体网页设计界有着十分丰富的经验。他在澳大利亚和英国的零售业及设计相关公司有着众多作品,其中包括昆士兰交通枢纽、伦敦交通枢纽、雷克萨斯欧洲区、英菲尼特欧洲区、昆士兰博物馆等。
John has an extensive background in architectural graphic design, product communication & web design working for a number of retail & multi-disciplinary design companies in Australia and the UK. His projects include Queensland Transport, Transport for London, Lexus Europe, Infiniti Europe, Gazprom Energy (Russia), Queensland Museum.
夹丝玻璃wire glass
由于中间夹有钢丝网,这种玻璃主要用于防火阻燃,且遇到冲击或高温时,破而不缺,裂而不散。 It is manufactured primarily as a fire retardant, with wire mesh inlaid in the  glass to prevent it from shattering and breaking out under stress or when  exposed to high temperatures.
